ABOUT: Kali Shiva was established in 1987, as a community based volunteer driven organization that provides non-medical support services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Winnipeg.

Kali-Shiva operates a venue named “Sunshine house” the venue offers basic support services which include meals, laundry facilities, shower facilities, clothing depot, computer access, access to IV drug use equipment, and community and resource information.

From this venue Kali Shiva operates the only HIV positive Women’s Program in the Province of Manitoba.. The program offers HIV Positive Women a safe supportive drop-in environment to meet & learn from other women living with HIV. The program focuses on a client-centred model of care, which means the client determines the services and we help to fill the gap. More structured services in the women’s program include, aboriginal sweats, retreats, workshops, training, employment opportunities in our co-ed drop-in program, and small business development.

This venue also supports drop-in time for populations that may be identified as transient, drug using, homeless, low-income,and/or street-involved populations. During these times in addition to basic support services,HIV and STI testing is offered through the needle exchange program “Street Connections”.
