Downtown Community Health Centre – Maximally Assisted Therapy (MAT) Program
SERVICES: primary health care, counselling, community liaison, home support, complementary therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, referrals, Maximally Assisted Therapy (MAT), case management, addiction services
ABOUT: Offers primary health care, on- and off-site, and health information for people of all ages in the Downtown Eastside; clients may or may not have medical coverage (certain conditions may apply). Services include counselling, community liaison, adult home support, women-only services, pharmacy, and alternative therapies (acupuncture and massage therapy). Direct health services are provided by community nurses, doctors, counsellors, nutritionist, and respiratory therapist. Offers referrals to residential care facilities, adult day care centres, treatment centres, and meal programs. The Maximally Assisted Therapy (MAT) Program provides intensive and assertive case management for people living with HIV. Also offers addiction services, described elsewhere. Open 8:30 am to 8:30 pm daily except Tuesdays; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Tuesdays is for regular patients only, and 5 pm to 8:30 pm Tuesdays is for women only. Pharmacy open seven days a week (daytime only). Also the site for a free dinner for women, 5 pm to 8:30 pm Tuesdays.
