ABOUT: Barrie Housing Support Services is a housing registry for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It offers a free housing registry, landlord/tenant mediation, a housing help line, housing education workshops and community resource information. Prospective tenants and landlords are screened in order to facilitate a successful match. Housing registry lists houses, townhouses, apartments, rooms and shared accommodation. Have applications for subsidized housing which must be forwarded by client. Co-sponsored by Simcoe Community Services and The Canadian Mental Health Association. Barrie Housing Support Services is a member of the Simcoe County Alliance to End Homelessness.

Barrie Housing Support Services can assist individuals in applying for funding from the Rent Bank. The Rent Bank, which is part of the Simcoe County’s Housing Retention Fund, is intended to assist low income residents of Simcoe County who are at risk of losing their rental housing by providing them with financial assistance.
